This guide will explain the basics of installing the security relay of the CAM Pro device in any Turn Key Start Car type. You need to have a proper understanding of the car’s electrical system before installation. It is highly recommended to install this device through a trained car electrician.
There are two basic car types as follows.
- Key Start – Cars that require a key to be inserted in the keyhole to start the car.
- Push Start – Cars that are equipped with a smart key remote and a push start button.
For this, we will discuss the installation of the security relay in a turn-key start car. There are 2 ways to install security in a turn-key start car.
1- The Black/white wire goes to the engine starter deactivation relay. This relay is placed in series between the Power on wires of the Ignition wire.
2- The Black/white wire goes to the engine starter deactivation relay. This relay is placed in series between the starter wire of the Ignition wires.
As shown in the image above, the starter wire of the ignition is cut. And the relay is in series with the starter wire.
Pros for installing the relay between On wire of the starter
The car automatically stops after 10 seconds in case, there is a snatching.
The car does not travel more than 5 km and it shuts down without waiting at all.
Cons for installing the relay between On wire of the starter
It becomes a little dangerous, as if someone kills the app from the background, the security might activate and put life in danger as well if the car is at high speed.
Pros for installing the relay between Starter wire of the starter
Safer approach for security as the car does not start after it is disconnected from the smartphone.
Cons for installing the relay between Start wire of the starter
It might be safe but in case of a theft, the car might travel a long distance and then it will not start i.e. deactivating the starter.
